On Sunday the 20th July the Blackburn Headway group embarked on a charity walk from Eric Morecambe’s statue on the prom in Morecambe to Heysham Village in an attempt to boost our funds. On the way we were contemplating what the weather would do. It certainly didn’t look too dry!
Once we arrived we found a point near to the statue to unload. We met up with other group members who made their own way there and set off on our journey, two and three quarters of a mile each way, collection tubs and buckets in hand.
On our arrival at Heysham Village we found a wheelchair friendly pub for lunch. We decided to eat in their spacious beer garden. The pub had a very good menu but despite the wide choice most of us ordered the house burger!
The sky cleared and it became a scorcher; the beer garden was totally sheltered from the wind so copious amounts of sun cream was applied! We finished the food and set off back. A good time was had by all.
